Walking
From the center of Mandan, start at the intersection of Main Street and 1st Avenue NW. Head east on Main Street for about 1 mile. You will pass a few local shops and restaurants. Continue straight until you reach the bridge over the Heart River. After crossing the bridge, keep walking straight; you will eventually enter Bismarck. Camp Hancock State Historic Site is located at 101 E Main Ave in Bismarck. Look for the historical markers along the way that may provide context about the area.

If you have access to a bicycle, start at the Mandan Depot located at 1 Railroad Dr. Ride east on 1st St NE until you reach Main St. Turn left (north) onto Main St and follow it across the bridge over the Heart River. Once you cross the bridge, continue north on Main St until you arrive in Bismarck. Camp Hancock State Historic Site is located at 101 E Main Ave. There are bike racks available near the site for parking.
