Car
If you are driving from Alta, take the E6 highway heading north. After approximately 200 kilometers, take the exit for the E69 towards Hammerfest. Follow the E69 for about 90 kilometers until you reach Hammerfest. Once in Hammerfest, follow the signs to the town center. Hammerfest Kirke is located at Kirkegata 29, which is just a short drive from the center. Look for parking options along Kirkegata or nearby streets.
Public Transportation
From Alta, you can take a bus operated by Finnmark Fylkestrafikk to Hammerfest. The journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, with several daily departures. Once you arrive at the Hammerfest bus station, it's a 10-minute walk to Hammerfest Kirke. Head south on Kirkegata from the bus station for about 800 meters, and you will see the church on your left at Kirkegata 29.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route from the Hammerfest bus station or any location in Hammerfest, you can take a taxi. Taxis are available at the bus station and can take you directly to Hammerfest Kirke. The fare will depend on the distance, but it usually costs around 100 to 200 NOK for a short ride within the town.
Walking
If you are staying in Hammerfest, walking to Hammerfest Kirke from the town center is quite feasible. Simply head southeast on Kirkegata, and after about 1 kilometer, you will arrive at Kirkegata 29. The scenic walk will take approximately 15 minutes and allows you to explore the local architecture.
