Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Notodden, which is well connected by road. Take Route 38 north towards Vinje. After approximately 40 kilometers, you will reach Vinje. From Vinje, follow signs for Holtardalen, which is located about 11 kilometers to the west. The last part of the journey involves taking the local road (Holtardalenvegen) that leads directly to Holtardalen. There is ample parking available at the destination.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  For those relying on public transportation, take a bus from Notodden to Vinje. The bus service is operated by Stagecoach and runs several times a day. The journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Vinje, you can take a local bus towards Holtardalen. Ensure to check the local bus schedules in advance, as services may be limited, especially on weekends. The local bus will drop you off near Holtardalen, from which it is a short walk to the main attraction.

• Bicycle

  For an adventurous option, consider cycling to Holtardalen. If you are starting from Vinje, rent a bicycle from a local shop. The ride to Holtardalen is approximately 11 kilometers and includes scenic views of the Norwegian countryside. The route is mostly flat and suitable for cyclists of all levels. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water. There are no fees for cycling on public roads, but you may want to check if the rental shop has any fees for renting a bike.
