If you are in the city center around Torget (the main square), head east towards the river Nidelva. Walk along the riverbank for about 10 minutes until you reach the Old Town Bridge (Gamle bybro). You'll see the colorful wooden buildings of Bakklandet on your left as you approach the bridge.
