If you are traveling by car and are already in Hocking Hills, start by heading north on US-33. Follow US-33 for approximately 20 miles. Take the exit toward Nelsonville (State Route 278). Once on State Route 278, continue for about 3 miles until you reach the intersection with State Route 693. Turn left onto State Route 693, then continue for about 1 mile. The Hocking Canal Site will be on your right; look for the historical marker.

If you are using public transportation, you will need to take a bus from Hocking Hills to Nelsonville. Check the local bus schedule (Hocking County Transit) for routes to Nelsonville. Once you arrive in Nelsonville, you may need to walk approximately 1 mile to reach the Hocking Canal Site. Start by heading south on E Canal St, then turn left onto State Route 693. Continue walking until you reach the historical marker on your right.

For those who prefer biking, you can take the bike path from Hocking Hills to Nelsonville. Start by heading north on the Hocking Adena Bike Path, which connects to Nelsonville. Follow the bike path and it will lead you directly into the town. Once in Nelsonville, follow the same route as mentioned above: head south on E Canal St, then turn left onto State Route 693 until you reach the Hocking Canal Site.
