Car
To reach Whispering Cave by car, start from the main entrance of Wayne National Forest. Head south on SR 93 for approximately 6 miles until you reach the junction with SR 278. Turn left onto SR 278 and continue for about 8 miles. You will pass several scenic spots along the way. Look for signs directing you toward Hocking Hills State Park. Once you see the signs, keep an eye out for the parking area leading to the Whispering Cave trailhead. The parking lot is well marked. There is no entry fee for the cave itself, but parking fees may apply.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, the nearest bus service is available from the city of Logan. Take the local bus to Hocking Hills State Park. Once you arrive at the park stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to the Whispering Cave trailhead. Follow the signs toward the cave. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance to ensure you can make a round trip without long waits, as service may be limited. The cost of the bus fare is typically around $2 each way.
Hiking
If you are already within Wayne National Forest and prefer to hike, you can connect to the trail system leading to Whispering Cave. From the nearest trailhead, follow the marked trails that lead southeast toward the cave. The hike is approximately 2 miles on well-maintained trails. Make sure to bring water and wear appropriate footwear. This option is free of charge.
