If you are driving, you can easily reach the Washita Battlefield National Historic Site from various locations in Great Plains Country. The site is located at 18555 OK-47 Alt, Cheyenne, OK 73628. From Elk City, take US-283 N for about 30 miles, then turn left onto OK-47 Alt and continue for approximately 15 miles. From Sayre, take I-40 E and exit at US-283 S, then follow US-283 S for about 15 miles and turn right onto OK-47 Alt. The site will be on your right. There is no admission fee to enter the battlefield, but you may want to budget for fuel and any food or beverages during your trip.
