Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you are driving, start from the main parking area in Wadi Bani Khalid. Head southeast on the main road towards the village. Continue straight for about 4.5 kilometers until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork, which leads you deeper into the wadi. After about 2 kilometers, look for a small sign indicating Wadi Hawer. Turn right and follow the dirt road for approximately 1 kilometer. You may need a 4x4 vehicle as the road can be rough. The entrance to Wadi Hawer will be on your left, marked by natural rock formations.
Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, find a local bus or shared taxi that operates between Wadi Bani Khalid and nearby villages. Ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance of Wadi Hawer. This may require some negotiation, and the fare could range from 2 to 5 OMR depending on the distance and the driver. From the drop-off point, you will need to walk about 1 kilometer to reach Wadi Hawer, following the dirt path that leads into the wadi.
Walking
For those who enjoy hiking, you can walk from the main attractions in Wadi Bani Khalid. Start from the popular swimming areas and follow the path that leads into the wadi. It's a scenic walk of about 3 kilometers along the water's edge. Once you reach the fork in the road, take the left and continue for another 2 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Wadi Hawer. Make sure to wear good walking shoes and carry enough water for the journey.
