Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, keep an eye out for the sign indicating the turn for the Green Lakes Trailhead. The trailhead is situated approximately 18 miles from the beginning of the scenic byway. Look for the road labeled 'Fall Creek Trail' which leads directly to the trailhead. As you approach, the road will become narrower and more winding. Ensure to drive carefully as there may be cyclists or hikers in the area. Upon arrival, you will find a parking lot where you can leave your vehicle. There is no parking fee, but be aware that the lot can fill up quickly during peak seasons.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, start by taking a bus from Bend to the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. The closest bus stop to Green Lakes Trailhead is at the Elk Lake Resort. From there, you can either hike or arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you the final 6 miles to the trailhead. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance as services may be limited, especially in the off-season.

• Walking

  If you are already near the trailhead or parked at a nearby location, you can walk to the Green Lakes Trailhead. The area offers beautiful trails that lead to the trailhead, allowing you to enjoy the scenery. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water, as the walk can be a bit strenuous depending on your starting point.
