If you're traveling by car, start by getting onto Highway 20 (NE Hwy 20) if you're not already on it. Follow Hwy 20 eastbound towards Bend. Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint is located at 1310 NE Hwy 20, Bend, OR 97701. As you approach Bend, watch for signs indicating the scenic viewpoint. There is a parking area available at the base of the viewpoint.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, you can take the Cascades East Transit (CET) bus service. Check for the route that services the Bend area. You will want to find a bus that takes you to the nearest stop on NE Hwy 20. Once you arrive at the bus stop, you may need to walk approximately 0.5 miles to reach the parking area of Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint. Make sure to check the CET schedule for the most current bus times and any fares that may apply.

Walking

If you are already in the vicinity of Pilot Butte, you can walk to the viewpoint from nearby accommodations or locations in Bend. Follow NE 27th Street south until it intersects with NE Hwy 20, then head east on Hwy 20 until you see the entrance to the scenic viewpoint. It's approximately a 1-mile walk from downtown Bend to the viewpoint, so wear comfortable shoes.

Bicycle

For a more active approach, consider biking to Pilot Butte. There are bike lanes along NE Hwy 20, and the ride from downtown Bend to the viewpoint is quite scenic. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules. There is a designated bike parking area at the scenic viewpoint.
