Car
If you're driving, start by heading to I-205 S. From anywhere in Clackamas County, navigate to I-205 and follow signs for Portland. Take Exit 23 for I-84 E toward The Dalles. After approximately 15 miles, take Exit 17 for Troutdale. Continue on E Columbia River Hwy, and follow signs for Larch Mountain Road. This will lead you to the entrance of the Larch Mountain Trail, located at the end of Larch Mountain Road. Be advised that there may be a parking fee at the trailhead, typically around $5.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the TriMet MAX Blue Line from any major station in Clackamas County, heading towards downtown Portland. Transfer to the TriMet bus #77 at the Gateway Transit Center, which will take you towards Troutdale. From Troutdale, you may need to arrange for a rideshare service or taxi to reach Larch Mountain Road, as public transit does not extend directly to the trailhead. Ensure to check the TriMet website for current schedules and any applicable fares.
Bicycle
If you're biking, you can follow the scenic route via the Historic Columbia River Highway. Starting from Troutdale, head east on the highway, which will take you through beautiful landscapes. Once you reach Larch Mountain Road, take a left and continue until you reach the trailhead. Note that this route is hilly and may require a good level of fitness.
