Car
If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to I-84 E. From Portland, take I-84 E and continue for about 18 miles. Take exit 18 for Corbett and turn right onto E Historic Columbia River Hwy. Follow the signs for Angel's Rest Trailhead. The trailhead parking lot is located approximately 4 miles down this road on the left. Note that parking is limited, so arrive early if possible.
Public Transportation
To reach Angel's Rest Lookout via public transportation, take the MAX Light Rail Blue Line from downtown Portland towards Hillsboro. Transfer to the Columbia Gorge Express at Gateway Transit Center. This bus will take you to the Columbia River Gorge, but you'll need to get off at the nearest stop to Angel's Rest Trailhead. From there, it is about a 1.5-mile hike uphill to the lookout. Make sure to check the Columbia Gorge Express schedule for the latest timings. Note that fares for the MAX Light Rail and Columbia Gorge Express apply.
Hiking
Once at the Angel's Rest Trailhead, prepare for the hike. The trail is approximately 2 miles one way and is considered moderately challenging. The elevation gain is about 1,500 feet, so be prepared for a steep ascent. The trail is well-maintained with some rocky sections. Bring plenty of water and wear appropriate hiking shoes. The views from the lookout are worth the effort, offering stunning vistas of the Columbia River Gorge.
