From downtown Prineville, head north on NW 3rd St. Turn left onto NW Madras Hwy (US-26) and follow for approximately 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Unnamed Road, which is not well marked but is the main access road to Barnes Butte Trailhead. Continue on this road for about 2 miles, and you will arrive at the Barnes Butte Trailhead parking area.
Public Transportation
Currently, public transportation options to reach the Barnes Butte Trailhead are limited. However, you can take the Crook County Public Transit (CCPT) from various locations in Prineville to a central stop. Once you reach the central stop, you will likely need to utilize a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) or a taxi to get to the trailhead, as it is about 5 miles away from the transit stop.
