Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto I-84 E from Hood River. Continue on I-84 E for about 15 miles. Take exit 44 toward Cascade Locks. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto E Cascade Ave. Continue straight to stay on E Cascade Ave. Turn left onto SW Portage Rd, and you will find the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler at 299 SW Portage Rd, Cascade Locks, OR 97014.

• Public Transportation

  For public transportation, take the Columbia Area Transit bus (Route 1) from Hood River to Cascade Locks. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as it may not run frequently. Once you arrive in Cascade Locks, walk along E Cascade Ave to SW Portage Rd and turn left. The Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler will be at 299 SW Portage Rd. Note that there may be a small fare for the bus ride.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer biking, you can take the scenic Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail from Hood River to Cascade Locks. This route offers stunning views of the gorge. Once you reach Cascade Locks, navigate to SW Portage Rd by heading south on E Cascade Ave and turning left on SW Portage Rd. The Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler is located at 299 SW Portage Rd. Ensure to wear a helmet and follow local biking regulations.

• Walking

  If you are staying locally in Cascade Locks, you may also walk to the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler. From the center of Cascade Locks, head south on E Cascade Ave, then turn left onto SW Portage Rd. The sternwheeler is located at 299 SW Portage Rd, which is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the center of town.
