Car
From any location in Jefferson County, head towards Sisters, OR. If you're coming from Madras, take US-97 S to OR-126 W, then follow OR-126 W to Sisters. If you're in the town of Jefferson, take OR-22 E to US-97 S, then follow the previous directions. Once in Sisters, continue on Cascade Ave until you reach the junction with US-20. Turn left onto US-20 E and follow it for about 13 miles. Look for signs for the Mount Washington Wilderness area. The trailheads can be accessed from the road, but ensure to check for parking availability, as some areas may require a parking pass.
Public Transportation
If using public transportation, take the Cascades East Transit from Bend to Sisters. Once you arrive in Sisters, you'll need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Mount Washington Wilderness area, as public transportation does not service the wilderness directly. The ride from Sisters to the wilderness area should take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on your exact destination within the wilderness.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the Mount Washington Wilderness, you can start your hiking adventure from one of the designated trailheads. Be mindful that a day pass may be required for parking and access to certain trails. Ensure to check the specific trail maps and conditions at the trailhead before beginning your hike.
