Car
If you are traveling by car, start from downtown Klamath Falls. Head north on US-97 N. Continue on US-97 N for about 60 miles. Take the exit toward OR-58 E towards Eugene. Merge onto OR-58 E and continue for approximately 12 miles. Take the exit for OR-97 N towards Bend. After about 22 miles, take the exit for Bend and merge onto US-20 E. Continue on US-20 E for about 10 miles. Take a left onto Lava Butte Road, which is well-marked. Follow this road until you reach the Lava Butte Lookout parking area. Keep in mind that there may be a parking fee, so bring cash or check.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a Greyhound bus from Klamath Falls to Bend. Upon arrival in Bend, you can use a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft to reach Lava Butte. The ride will take approximately 25 minutes. Alternatively, you can check local bus routes for a shuttle service that may stop near Lava Butte Lookout, but be aware that public transport options may be limited.
