Car
If you are traveling by car from any location in Wheeler County, start by heading towards Highway 26 or Highway 97, depending on your exact location. If you are near Fossil, take Highway 19 south to Highway 97. Once on Highway 97, head south until you reach the junction with Highway 126. Merge onto Highway 126 West and continue for about 15 miles. Look for signs directing you to Smith Rock State Park. Turn right onto Smith Rock Way and follow the road to the park entrance. Note that there is a parking fee of $5 per vehicle, which you can pay at the self-service kiosk located at the entrance.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, the nearest major bus service is provided by Cascades East Transit. Start by taking a bus to Redmond from your location in Wheeler County. Once in Redmond, transfer to a bus heading towards Terrebonne, which is the closest stop to Smith Rock State Park. From the Terrebonne bus stop, it is approximately a 3-mile walk to the park entrance. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently, especially on weekends. There may also be a fare for the bus, typically around $2-$3.
