Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Naran, which is a popular base in Kaghan Valley. Head south on the Naran-Balakot Road (N-15) towards Balakot. After approximately 30 kilometers, take a left turn onto a smaller road that leads towards Makra Choti. The road may be rough and uneven, so be cautious. Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the base camp area. From here, you'll need to hike to reach the peak itself, which takes about 2-3 hours, depending on your fitness level.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus or a shared van from Naran to Balakot. The journey takes around 2 hours. Once in Balakot, you can hire a local jeep to take you closer to the base of Makra Choti. This jeep ride may cost you around PKR 2000-3000, depending on your negotiation skills. Upon reaching the base camp, you will need to hike to the peak, which will take approximately 2-3 hours.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the base camp, prepare for the hike to Makra Choti. The trail is well-marked but can be steep and rocky in places. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and carry enough water and snacks. The total hike to the summit and back may take around 5-6 hours.
