Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Mount Hagen, head towards the Mt. Hagen Market located on the main road. Once you reach the market, continue along the main road (Kumul Highway) heading towards the western outskirts of the city. After about 1 kilometer, you will reach a junction. Take the right turn at the junction onto the road that leads towards the Mount Hagen Rural area. Follow this road for approximately 5 kilometers. Along the way, you will pass several villages and local shops. Keep an eye out for signposts indicating the direction to Aundaka. After 5 kilometers, the road will start to incline, indicating you are approaching Aundaka. The hiking area is situated near a prominent hill and should be visible from the road.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Mount Hagen. Start your journey from the town center and head towards the Mt. Hagen Market. Once you reach the market, continue on Kumul Highway, and after about 1 kilometer, take the right turn towards Mount Hagen Rural. Cycle for about 5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views of the surrounding highlands. As you approach Aundaka, the road will incline, and you will see the hiking area nearby. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay vigilant of the local traffic.
