Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, begin your journey on the main highways connecting to the Paraná River Basin. The most common route is via Route 12, which is well-maintained and offers scenic views. From the city of Posadas, Argentina, follow Route 12 south until you reach the town of Puerto Iguazú. The drive should take around 3 hours (approximately 300 km). Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Iguazu Falls as you approach the town. Parking is available at the entrance to the falls, but there is an entrance fee of around 800 ARS (Argentine Pesos) for adults.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can catch a bus from Posadas to Puerto Iguazú. Buses leave from the main terminal in Posadas, and the journey takes about 4-5 hours. Once you arrive in Puerto Iguazú, you can take a local taxi or shuttle to the entrance of Iguazu Falls. The bus fare is approximately 200 ARS. Alternatively, if traveling from Asunción, Paraguay, you can take a bus to Ciudad del Este and then transfer to another bus heading to Puerto Iguazú.

• Taxi or Ride-Sharing

  If you prefer a more direct route without using public transport, consider taking a taxi or using a ride-sharing app from either Posadas or Ciudad del Este. This option is more expensive, typically costing around 1500-2000 ARS from Posadas to the falls, but it offers convenience and flexibility in your travel schedule.

• Walking

  Once you reach the Iguazu National Park, you can explore the falls on foot. Well-marked trails lead to various viewpoints, and the park offers several walking paths that vary in length and difficulty. Be prepared to walk a lot, as the park is expansive. Comfortable footwear is recommended, and don’t forget to carry water and sunscreen.
