Race Street Pier: A Scenic Escape on the Delaware River

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the historic Old City area, start at Independence Hall. Head east on Chestnut Street toward 5th Street. Continue straight until you reach the Delaware River waterfront. Once you reach the waterfront, turn right and walk along the path toward Race Street Pier. The pier will be located on N Christopher Columbus Blvd, just a short walk along the river.

• Public Transit (Bus)

  From City Hall, locate the bus stop for the 25 or 43 buses on Market Street. Board the bus heading toward the waterfront. Get off at the stop near the intersection of N Christopher Columbus Blvd and Race Street. From there, it is a short walk to Race Street Pier, which is directly accessible from the waterfront.

• Public Transit (Subway + Walk)

  Take the Broad Street Line subway from any station to the 15th Street Station. Transfer to the Market-Frankford Line and ride to the 2nd Street Station. Exit and walk east toward the Delaware River. Once you reach the waterfront, turn left and follow the path to Race Street Pier, which is located on N Christopher Columbus Blvd.

• Biking

  If you have a bike, you can ride to Race Street Pier via the Schuylkill River Trail. Start at the trailhead at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and head south along the trail. Follow the signs toward the Delaware River waterfront. Once you reach the river, turn left to ride along the waterfront path until you arrive at Race Street Pier on N Christopher Columbus Blvd.
