Getting There

• Car

  If you're already in Presque Isle State Park, simply follow the park roads to reach various attractions. From the park entrance at the intersection of Peninsula Drive and West 8th Street, continue straight on Peninsula Drive. You'll encounter numerous parking areas along the way, such as the Beach 1 parking lot, which is a good place to start your visit. If you want to reach the Presque Isle Lighthouse, continue on Peninsula Drive until you see the lighthouse on your left. The lighthouse is located at approximately 42.1387° N, 80.0991° W. Keep in mind that parking may require a daily fee of $5.00, which you can pay at the self-service kiosks located throughout the park.

• Biking

  Presque Isle State Park features a scenic bike path that runs along the peninsula. If you're at the entrance of the park, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops near the entrance. Once you have your bike, take Peninsula Drive north toward the beach areas. The bike path is well-marked and will guide you through the park, leading to various attractions such as the beaches, the lighthouse, and picnic areas. This is a great way to explore the park at your own pace while enjoying the views of Lake Erie.

• Walking

  Walking is another popular way to experience Presque Isle State Park. If you are in any of the beach areas such as Beach 1 or Beach 2, you can stroll along the sandy shores of Lake Erie. To reach the Presque Isle Lighthouse on foot from Beach 1, follow the shoreline path heading east. It’s about a 1.5-mile walk, and you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the lake along the way. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on warm days.

• Public Transportation

  Though public transportation options are limited directly in Presque Isle State Park, you can take a local bus to a nearby transit hub in Erie, PA. From there, you can use rideshare services like Uber or Lyft to reach the park entrance. The Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) operates several bus routes that can connect you to the area, but please check their schedule and routes ahead of time to ensure timely travel. Note that the cost for a single EMTA ride typically ranges from $1.50 to $2.00.
