Hiking
From Machu Picchu, begin your journey at the main entrance. Follow the path leading down towards the Machu Picchu town, Aguas Calientes. This will take approximately 30 minutes of downhill hiking. Once you reach the town of Aguas Calientes, head towards the train station. From there, you will need to take a train to Ollantaytambo, which typically takes about 2 hours. After arriving at Ollantaytambo, exit the train station and locate the colectivo (shared taxi) area. Board a colectivo heading towards the town of Socma. The ride will take about 30 minutes. Once in Socma, look for signs or ask locals for directions to Catarata Perolniyoc, which is approximately a 30-minute hike from the town.

Start your journey at the Machu Picchu site. Descend to Aguas Calientes on foot, which will take about 30 minutes. Once in Aguas Calientes, purchase a ticket for the train to Ollantaytambo. The trains run regularly, so you should be able to catch one without much wait. After approximately 2 hours of travel, you will arrive at Ollantaytambo. After disembarking, find the colectivo station outside the train station. Colectivos to Socma leave frequently, so board one when you see it. The ride to Socma will take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Socma, follow local directions to begin your hike to Catarata Perolniyoc.
