Getting There

Walking
From the town center of Basco, head south towards the National Road (also known as the Circumferential Road). Follow the road signs towards Mahatao. It’s a scenic walk that will take you through the lush landscapes of Batanes. After about a 30-minute walk, you will reach the Chanarian View Deck. From the view deck, continue walking along the National Road until you reach the entrance to Chawa Cave, which is about 15 minutes further down the road.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Basco. Start at the town center and ride south on the National Road towards Mahatao. The ride is about 6 kilometers and should take around 25-30 minutes. Once you reach Chanarian View Deck, park your bike and continue walking along the National Road for another 15-minute walk to reach Chawa Cave.

From Basco, you can hire a tricycle to take you directly to Chawa Cave. Make sure to tell the driver you want to go to the Chanarian View Deck, as it is the nearest landmark. The ride should take about 15-20 minutes. Once you reach the view deck, you can walk for about 15 minutes along the National Road to reach the entrance of Chawa Cave.
