Banaue-Sagada A 7 days Northern Adventure Trip

7-Day Tour Review: Discovering the Wonders of the Philippines

Day 1: Arrival in Banaue Our journey began in Banaue, where we were greeted by the breathtaking views of the iconic rice terraces. Staying at a local guesthouse, we were immersed in the culture and hospitality of the Ifugao people. A short trek around the terraces was mesmerizing; the vibrant green fields cascading down the mountainside were unlike anything I had ever seen. Day 2: Exploring Banaue We spent the day exploring more of the rice terraces. A guided tour took us to the Batad rice terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hike to the viewpoint was challenging but absolutely worth it. The panoramic views were stunning, and our guide shared fascinating stories about the Ifugao traditions and rice farming techniques. Day 3: Sagada Hanging Coffins Leaving Banaue, we headed to Sagada. The drive was scenic, with winding roads and lush landscapes. Once in Sagada, we visited the famous hanging coffins. The experience was both haunting and beautiful. We learned about the unique burial practices of the local Igorot tribe. Later, we explored the Sumaguing Cave, where we navigated through incredible limestone formations. Day 4: More of Sagada We took part in a sunrise trek to Kiltepan Viewpoint. Watching the sunrise over the mountains was an unforgettable moment, with the fog rolling in like a dream. After breakfast, we visited Echo Valley and the burial sites, immersing ourselves in the culture. The afternoon was spent at a local café, enjoying traditional cuisine. Day 5: Journey to Baguio City On our way to Baguio, we stopped at the picturesque town of Besao for some local handicrafts. Upon reaching Baguio, we were welcomed by the cool mountain air and vibrant flowers. We visited Burnham Park, where we rented a boat and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon on the lake. Day 6: Exploring Baguio We started our day at the famous Baguio Market, where we indulged in fresh strawberries and local delicacies. A visit to the Philippine Military Academy was fascinating, and we learned about the country’s military history. In the afternoon, we explored the BenCab Museum, showcasing contemporary Filipino art amidst stunning views. Day 7: Departure Our final day was bittersweet. We visited the historic Camp John Hay and took a leisurely walk through the pine-scented trails. Before heading back, we stopped by the Botanical Garden, soaking in the beauty of the flowers and greenery. Overall Impression This 7-day trip was an incredible journey through the heart of the Philippines. The combination of natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality left a lasting impression. Whether you’re trekking the rice terraces or experiencing the unique customs of Sagada, this trip is a must for any adventure seeker. Highly recommend!

Embark on a 7-Day Banaue-Sagada Adventure of a Lifetime

7 DAYS EXTREME EXPERIENCE IN THE NORTH PART OF THE PHILIPPINES

This was very amazing and one of a kind, seeing the different parts of the Philippines was very astounding. Culture was very nourished and coated by some preserve ethnical things from the past. Our first stop is the trekking to the volcano and ride a 4x4 truck, it was very extreme and awesome experience having a thrilling ride to the area where the aftermath of the eruption. We see some indigenous people there and witness their different structures and characteristics figures. The first stop was very beautiful and manageable because of of our travel coordinator Seana that has a good presence of attitude and lovely smile every time she is talking and even we ask her some questions. She manage everything until we reach our next stop the rice field of terraces the Bananue Rice Terraces. Travel time almost 9 hours and our driver Rhed was very smooth and professional on his driving skills, he let our selves relax and comfortable on his driving talent, thanks for making us safe until we reach our last destination in Baguio to Manila. We got a lot of fun and extreme experience on this trip that we never experience before, for us our highlight to this is the Hotspring and The Cave we thought that we can make it but WE DID IT !!!!! Thanks to our local guides for bringing some local experiences Abner in Banaue and Rex to the Sagada heading to the Hanging Coffins. Explore the northern mountains of Sagada 3days 2 nights from Manila ***

Relaxed and Trouble free

The main challenges for visiting Sagada are transport and to some extent Accommodation. Although there are a number of guest houses and homestays it's by far best to book before arriving and bring proof of a place to stay. Tourists are expected to check in to the Visitor Center on arrival and pay a low visitor charge. Although COVID is still an issue in the Cordillera your passport or ID and travel pass are all you need to show at the moment. In general allow a day to travel to Baguio and another 5 to 6 hours to get to Sagada. It is possible to travel direct but it is a 12 to 14 hour bus trip overnight. If you plan to drive be aware that the Halsema Highway is a relatively narrow mountain road which challenges both vehicle and driver. Although the distance from Baguio is about 120 Km allow at least 5 hours for the trip and be aware that fog and rain can add more time. At present the highway is restricted near Mt Data where a major slide is being repaired. Sagada is an agricultural town with many small villages. It has extensive terraces, perhaps not quite as scenic as Banaue but also offering great walks and of course the extensive caves. The people are friendly and welcoming and have a unique mountain culture. Unlike much of the Philippines the Spanish connection is very limited there with many people speaking their own languages as well as Tagalog and in many cases English. The food is also different to much of the lowland with a wider variety of vegetables and even Fruit more suitable to the mountain climate. There are a wide range of restaurants and small eateries but none of the tourist chains. Be aware that it can be comparatively cold especially at night. During the wet season it is quiet wet with afternoon thunder storms very common. Also the town has no central water supply relying on local arrangement to tap springs and bores. This may mean that your accommodation has limited water and more basic facilities than you might expect. The other consideration is that travelling about is largely by walking and some of the paths can be quite steep. There are a few jeepneys and small transport vehicles but the common tricycles seen in most places are not allowed. If you are looking for a relaxing and physical break then it should suit most people but if your looking for a wild social experience then it may not suit you.
