Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards the town of Tantangan in South Cotabato. From the city of Koronadal (the capital of South Cotabato), drive approximately 30 minutes south on the National Highway (approximately 21 kilometers). As you approach Tantangan, look for the signs directing you towards Matimos Falls. The falls are located about 12 kilometers from the town center of Tantangan. Follow the road signs and continue on the access road that leads directly to the falls. Be prepared for some unpaved sections of the road, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.
Public Transportation
To reach Matimos Falls via public transportation, take a bus from Koronadal to Tantangan. Buses to Tantangan frequently depart from the Koronadal terminal, and the fare is usually around PHP 30-50. Once you arrive in Tantangan, you can hire a tricycle to take you to Matimos Falls. The tricycle fare should be approximately PHP 100-150, depending on your negotiation skills and the distance. The tricycle ride takes about 30 minutes from the town center to the falls.
Hiking
For the adventurous, after reaching the drop-off point (either by car or tricycle), you will need to hike approximately 1-2 kilometers to reach Matimos Falls. The path is well-trodden but can be steep and rocky in certain areas, so be sure to wear sturdy shoes. Along the way, you can enjoy the lush greenery and possibly spot some local wildlife. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the hike, as there are no vendors along the trail.
