Car
From any location in Orava, head south towards the town of Liptovský Mikuláš. Use the D3 highway and follow signposts for the Low Tatras National Park. The drive will take approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Once you reach Liptovský Mikuláš, continue on Route 590 until you reach the entrance to Low Tatras National Park. Be aware of any parking fees that may apply at the park entrances.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Low Tatras National Park by bus, locate the nearest bus station in Orava (such as in Dolný Kubín or Námestovo). Take a bus towards Liptovský Mikuláš. The journey will take about 2-3 hours. Once in Liptovský Mikuláš, transfer to a local bus heading to the park, which may take another 30-45 minutes depending on your exact destination within the park. Make sure to check the schedule in advance, as bus services may vary.
Train and Bus Combination
For those preferring a train journey, take a train from Orava to Banská Bystrica. This train ride typically takes around 2 hours. From Banská Bystrica, switch to a regional bus heading to Liptovský Mikuláš. Once in Liptovský Mikuláš, you can take another local bus to reach various entry points into Low Tatras National Park. Total travel time may take around 3-4 hours, including transfer times.
