Travel Guide to Farol de Aveiro

Getting There

• Public Transportation - Bus

  From Aveiro city center, head to the Aveiro Bus Station (Estação de Autocarros de Aveiro). You can take the bus number 11 or 18, which goes to Gafanha da Nazaré. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at the bus stop in Gafanha da Nazaré, walk towards the coast for about 10 minutes until you reach Largo do Farol. The Farol de Aveiro will be visible from the shoreline.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk, from central Aveiro, head towards the waterfront and follow Avenida da Beira-Mar until you reach the pedestrian bridge (Ponte dos Santos). Cross the bridge and continue along the path that runs parallel to the lagoon. This scenic route will take you through beautiful landscapes and local sights. The walk is approximately 6 km and will take about 1.5 hours. Once you reach Gafanha da Nazaré, follow the signs towards Largo do Farol.

• Bicycle Rental

  You can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Aveiro. Once you have your bike, head towards the lagoon on Avenida da Beira-Mar and follow the bike path that leads to Gafanha da Nazaré. The ride is approximately 6 km and takes about 25 minutes. Upon reaching Gafanha da Nazaré, follow the signs to Largo do Farol, where the lighthouse is located.

• Taxi or Rideshare

  If you prefer a more direct option, you can take a taxi or use a rideshare service like Uber from Aveiro to Faro de Aveiro. Simply request a ride to 'Largo do Farol, Gafanha da Nazaré'. The journey will take about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic.
