Private Coimbra & Aveiro Tour from Porto with University & Canals
Incantevole soprattutto la Cattedrale Nuova!
Interessante il tour delle chiese di Coimbra. Mi soffermo in particolare sulla Cattedrale Nuova che mi ha colpita moltissimo. Essa, dedicata al Santissimo Nome di Gesù, fu costruita tra fine Cinquecento e Seicento ed è in stile barocco. L'imponente facciata in pietra chiara con ampia scalinata cattura lo sguardo per la sua sobria eleganza: ha tre portali, svariati finestroni, quattro statue di santi gesuiti, guglie ed un grande crocifisso in pietra. L'interno, ad una sola navata, presenta numerose cappelle con belle decorazioni barocche. Ho ammirato in particolare il coro ligneo e il pregevole fonte battesimale in quello stile gotico manuelino apprezzato anche nel Monastero di San Geronimo e nella Torre di Bélem di Lisbona.
