Bus
From Braga, head to the Braga Bus Station (Terminal Rodoviário de Braga) located at Av. da Liberdade, 200. Take a bus to Guimarães, which is a short journey of about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Guimarães Bus Station, exit the station and walk straight along Av. Dom João IV until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto R. de São Gonçalo. Continue straight for about 500 meters, and you will see Guimarães Castle on your left at R. Conde Dom Henrique.
Train
From Braga, make your way to the Braga Train Station (Estação de Braga) located at Av. da Liberdade. Board a train heading to Guimarães. The train journey will take approximately 30 minutes. After arriving at Guimarães Train Station, exit and head towards Av. Dom João IV. Walk straight for about 800 meters until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto R. de São Gonçalo and continue straight for another 500 meters. Guimarães Castle will be on your left at R. Conde Dom Henrique.
Walking
If you find yourself in the center of Braga, you can enjoy a picturesque walk. Start at the Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga) and head northeast on R. D. João IV. Continue straight until you reach the Praça da República. From there, take the exit onto Av. da Liberdade, passing through the beautiful park (Jardim de Santa Barbara). Walk towards the bus station and follow the instructions for the bus or train to Guimarães as detailed above. If you prefer a longer walk, you can walk directly to Guimarães, which is about 25 km away, but it would take several hours.
