Metro
From Braga city center, head to the 'Estação de Metro de Braga' (Braga Metro Station). Take the Metro Line A towards 'Senhor de Matosinhos' and travel until you reach the 'Estação de São Bento' in Porto. Once there, transfer to Line D (Yellow Line) towards 'Hospital de São João'. Get off at 'Câmara de Gaia' station. From the station, it is a 10-minute walk to Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar. Exit the station and head southeast on Rua de São Pedro, then turn left onto Rua do Cais da Ribeira. Follow this street until you reach Largo Aviz, where the monastery is located.
Bus
From Braga, go to the 'Braga Bus Station' (Terminal Rodoviário de Braga). Look for the bus service to Vila Nova de Gaia. Once you arrive at the Vila Nova de Gaia bus terminal, exit the terminal and walk towards the main road. Take a left turn on Av. da República and continue until you reach the intersection with Rua de Cais da Ribeira. Turn right and walk straight for approximately 15 minutes until you arrive at Largo Aviz, where the Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar is situated.
Walking
If you are close to the center of Braga, you can enjoy a scenic walk to Vila Nova de Gaia. Start at Praça da República and head south towards Rua do Raio. Follow this street until you reach the riverbank of the Douro River. From here, you can walk along the riverside promenade towards Vila Nova de Gaia. After about 1.5 hours of walking, you will arrive at Largo Aviz. The Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar will be on your right as you approach the area.
