Public Transport
From Faro city center, head to Faro Bus Station (Estação de Autocarros de Faro) located at Avenida da República. You can take the bus route number 57, which heads towards Albufeira. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Make sure to ask the driver to let you know when you reach the stop for Lagoa dos Salgados, as it may not be a main stop. Once you get off the bus, follow the signs towards Lagoa dos Salgados and the bird watching area which is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.

Train and Bus Combination
Start from Faro Train Station (Estação de Comboios de Faro). Take a regional train towards Tunes, which departs frequently and takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Tunes, exit the train station and look for the bus stop nearby. Take bus number 57 towards Albufeira and ask the driver to drop you off at Lagoa dos Salgados. After getting off, it’s a short 15-minute walk to the bird watching area.

If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Faro. Many shops offer bike rentals. Start from the city center and head towards the coast, following the bike paths. The route to Lagoa dos Salgados is approximately 15 km and takes about an hour to bike. Ensure you have a map or a GPS device to help navigate the way, following the coastal paths until you reach Lagoa dos Salgados.
