Getting There

Walking
From the center of Ponte de Lima, head east on Rua da Liberdade. Continue straight for about 800 meters until you reach the bridge over the Lima River. Cross the bridge and keep walking straight onto Rua do Cais. Follow this road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the N101 road towards Guimarães. After approximately 2 kilometers, you will arrive at the bus stop where you can catch a bus to Guimarães. The journey will take about 30 minutes.

From the Ponte de Lima bus station, purchase a ticket for Guimarães. The buses usually depart every hour, so check the schedule. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Guimarães bus station, exit and head towards Av. Dom Afonso Henriques. Walk straight ahead until you reach the intersection with R. Conde Dom Henrique. Turn left on R. Conde Dom Henrique, and Guimarães Castle will be on your right in about 200 meters.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Ponte de Lima. Start at the main square, Praça da República, and head east on Rua do Cais. Continue towards the bridge and cross it. Follow the N101 road, which has a designated bike lane, for about 2 kilometers until you reach the bus stop for Guimarães. This route is approximately 3 kilometers long and should take around 15-20 minutes depending on your cycling speed.
