Getting there

Metro

If you're starting from the city center, head to the nearest Metro station, such as São Bento. From there, take the D line (the yellow line) towards Hospital de São João. Alight at the next stop, which is Campo 24 de Agosto. After exiting the station, follow the signs to Rua de Ildefonso, which is just a short walk away.

Bus

You can also take the bus to reach Ildefonso. Look for bus routes 601 or 602 that stop near Praça da Ribeira. Ride the bus until you reach the stop at Campo 24 de Agosto. From the bus stop, walk towards Rua de Ildefonso, which will be a few minutes’ walk in the same direction.

Walking

If you are already in the vicinity of the historic center, a pleasant walk to Ildefonso is recommended. Start at Praça da Liberdade, walk down Rua 31 de Janeiro until you reach Rua de Santa Catarina. Continue straight until you reach Rua de Ildefonso, which should be on your left. This route takes you through some of Porto's charming streets.

Tram

For a scenic route, take the tram number 1 from the Ribeira area. Ride towards the Passeio Alegre. Get off at the stop at Infante, and from there, it's about a 15-minute walk to Ildefonso. Head up Rua de Alfândega and then turn left onto Rua de Ildefonso.
