Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving a car, start from the center of Serra da Estrela, which is typically in the area of Covilhã. Head northeast on the N18 towards the town of Cortes do Meio. Continue on the N18 for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the sign for Cortes do Meio. Turn left onto the road leading into the town. After entering the town, follow the signs to Miradouro do Sanatório. The viewpoint is located in a scenic area, so you may need to park in designated areas nearby and walk a short distance to the viewpoint.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Miradouro do Sanatório using public transportation, first take a bus from Covilhã to Cortes do Meio. Bus services operate regularly from Covilhã, and you can check local schedules for the most accurate times. Once you arrive in Cortes do Meio, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach the viewpoint. Follow the main road and look for signs directing you towards the Miradouro. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the walk may include some uneven terrain.

  If you are already in Cortes do Meio, you can walk to Miradouro do Sanatório. Head towards the main road and follow it until you see signs indicating the direction of the viewpoint. The walk is approximately 1.5 kilometers and will take you through some beautiful natural scenery. Make sure to bring water and wear appropriate footwear, as some parts of the path may be uneven.
