From Setúbal city center, head to the Setúbal Bus Station (Terminal Rodoviário de Setúbal). You can reach the station by walking or taking a local bus. Once at the bus station, look for the bus service to Palmela (you can ask for the next departure to Palmela if unsure). The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Palmela stop, which is a short walk from the castle. From the bus stop, head northwest on Rua da Liberdade, then take a left onto Av. dos Cavaleiros de Santiago e Espada. Continue walking until you see Palmela's Castle on your right.

Make your way to the Setúbal Train Station (Estação Ferroviária de Setúbal). You can walk from the city center, which should take around 15 minutes. At the train station, board a train heading towards Palmela. The journey is approximately 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Palmela station, exit and walk towards the town center. Follow the signs towards the castle; it is about a 20-minute walk uphill. Head northeast on Av. dos Cavaleiros de Santiago e Espada until you reach Palmela's Castle.

If you're up for a walk, you can hike from Setúbal to Palmela. Start from the city center and head towards Rua da Constituição. Follow the road signs leading to Palmela. The distance is about 10 kilometers and will take roughly 2 to 2.5 hours. The route takes you through beautiful landscapes, but be prepared for some uphill sections as you approach Palmela. Once you arrive in Palmela, follow Av. dos Cavaleiros de Santiago e Espada directly to Palmela's Castle.
