Getting There

• Public Transport

  From Setúbal, head to the Setúbal bus terminal (Terminal Rodoviário de Setúbal) located near the city center. You can reach there by walking from the main square (Praça do Brasil). Look for the bus to Palmela; it's usually labeled 'Palmela' or has the destination indicated on the front. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Palmela, disembark at the main bus stop. From there, follow the signs to the castle, which is about a 15-20 minute walk uphill. You will see the castle structure as you approach, and the path is well-marked with signs.

• Walking

  If you prefer walking from Setúbal, begin at Praça do Brasil and head toward the waterfront. Follow the Av. Luísa Todi until you reach the bridge over the river. Cross the bridge and continue straight onto the road that leads towards Palmela. This route is approximately 10 km and may take around 2 to 2.5 hours depending on your pace. The path will lead you through beautiful landscapes, and you can stop for refreshments along the way. Once you reach Palmela, the castle will be visible, and you can follow the signs directing you to it.

• Bicycle

  For those who enjoy cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Setúbal. Start at the waterfront and take the bike path along the river. Continue on the road towards Palmela. The ride is roughly 10 km and offers scenic views of the surrounding area. Once you arrive in Palmela, follow the signs to the castle, which is uphill from the main road. Ensure you are comfortable with uphill cycling as the final stretch to the castle can be steep.
