Car
If you're traveling by car, you can easily reach Castelo de Numão from any location in Trás-os-Montes. First, make your way to the nearest major town or city, such as Vila Real or Bragança. From Vila Real, take the A4 highway towards Mirandela. Once you reach the exit for the N15 road, take it towards the town of Numão. Follow the signs to Numão and then to R. Direita, where you will find the castle. The total driving time from Vila Real is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and from Bragança, it is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Make sure to check your vehicle's fuel level, as you might need to refuel in larger towns.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Vila Real or Bragança to the nearest town, which is Numão. From Vila Real, the bus service may require a transfer at Mirandela. The journey from Vila Real to Numão can take around 2 hours and may cost approximately €5-€10. Once you arrive in Numão, you can either walk to Castelo de Numão (about a 20-minute walk) or take a local taxi if available. The castle is located on R. Direita, 5155-619, and is well-signposted.
Walking from Numão
If you have arrived in the village of Numão, you can walk to Castelo de Numão by heading towards R. Direita. The castle is situated on a hill, so the walk may involve some uphill walking. As you approach, you'll see the impressive structure rising above the village. This scenic walk takes about 20 minutes and allows you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Trás-os-Montes.
