Arecibo Harbor: A Coastal Gem of Puerto Rico

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head to Arecibo Harbor located at Arecibo, 00612. From the center of Arecibo, take Route 2 (Carretera 2) towards the coast. Follow the signs for Arecibo Lighthouse, as the harbor is nearby. After approximately 3 miles, turn onto Route 681 (Carretera 681) and continue straight until you see signs for Arecibo Harbor. There is parking available at the harbor, but be aware that there may be a small fee for parking.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Arecibo Harbor using public transportation, take the public bus (known locally as 'guagua') from San Juan to Arecibo. Look for the buses labeled 'Arecibo' at the terminal. The journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at Arecibo's main bus terminal, you can take a local taxi or a ride-sharing service to reach Arecibo Harbor, which is approximately 1.5 miles away from the bus terminal. Expect to pay around $5 to $10 for the taxi fare.

• Walking

  If you are already in downtown Arecibo, you can walk to Arecibo Harbor. It is about a 30-minute walk (1.5 miles) from the center. Head northwest on Calle Santiago Veve towards Route 2, then turn left on Route 2 and continue until you reach Route 681. Follow Route 681 to the harbor. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated, especially in warm weather.
