To reach Storer Park from Beavertail State Park, start by getting onto RI-138 W from Beavertail Rd. Head northwest on Beavertail Rd for about 1 mile, then turn left onto RI-138 W. Continue on RI-138 W for approximately 6 miles. As you approach Newport, follow signs for US-1 S/RI-138 W. Merge onto US-1 S and continue for another 1.5 miles. Take the exit toward RI-214 S/Coddington Hwy. After about 0.5 miles, turn left onto Coddington Hwy. Continue straight, and it will become Admiral Kalbfus Rd. Follow this road for 2.5 miles, then turn right onto Newport Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the signs for Newport. Once you are in Newport, turn left onto Thames St. Continue on Thames St until you reach Storer Park, which will be on your right.
Public Transportation
To get to Storer Park using public transportation from Beavertail State Park, first, take the RIPTA Bus #60 from the nearest bus stop on Beavertail Rd. The bus will take you toward Newport, where you will want to get off at the stop near the Newport Gateway Center. This ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Newport Gateway Center, transfer to the RIPTA Bus #67. Board the bus and ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest stop to Storer Park. The bus will take you through downtown Newport, and after a short ride, you will be near the park. From the bus stop, it’s a short walk to Storer Park. Just head east on Thames St, and you will see the park on your right.
