Getting There

• Ferry

  To get to Rose Island Lighthouse, first, make your way to the Block Island Ferry terminal located at 1 Ferry Rd, Block Island. You can walk from your accommodation or ask for directions if you are unsure. Once at the terminal, purchase your ferry ticket to Newport. The ferry ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the Newport terminal, you will need to walk to the Rose Island Lighthouse. Exit the terminal, head east on America’s Cup Ave, and continue onto Washington St. After about 1 mile, you will reach the entrance to the Rose Island Lighthouse, located at 1 Washington St.

• Water Taxi

  From Block Island, you can arrange for a water taxi service that will take you directly to Rose Island. Contact local water taxi services in advance to schedule a pickup. They typically depart from the Old Harbor area. Once you board the taxi, enjoy the scenic ride which should take around 20-30 minutes. The water taxi will drop you off near the lighthouse on Rose Island.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Block Island. After renting, head to the ferry terminal at 1 Ferry Rd and take the ferry to Newport. Upon arrival, cycle east along America’s Cup Ave for about a mile until you reach Washington St. Follow Washington St to the lighthouse entrance at 1 Washington St. Make sure to check the ferry schedule for return times.
