If you're driving, start from downtown Newport. Head onto America’s Cup Avenue and follow signs for the Newport Bridge. Take the exit toward RI-138 W. Continue on RI-138 W for about 4 miles. Merge onto US-1 N and follow it for approximately 6 miles. Take exit 1 for RI-114 N toward Portsmouth/Newport. Continue on RI-114 N for about 2 miles, then take a slight right onto RI-138 E. After about 1 mile, turn left onto Liberty Square. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Liberty Square using public transportation, you can take the RIPTA bus service, Route 60 from downtown Newport. Board the bus at the nearest stop and stay on for about 20 minutes. Get off at the stop at John Clarke Rd at the Middletown Transfer Center. From there, you will need to walk approximately 0.5 miles to Liberty Square. Follow John Clarke Rd north until it merges into RI-138 E, then turn left onto Liberty Square. Be aware that a one-way bus fare is approximately $2.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in downtown Newport and head towards Liberty Square. Start at the waterfront and follow the bike path along America's Cup Avenue, then merge onto the East Bay Bike Path. Continue on this path until you reach the intersection with RI-114 N, then take a right turn. Follow RI-114 N, which leads directly to Liberty Square. The ride is about 5 miles and should take around 30-40 minutes depending on your cycling speed.
