    From downtown Newport, head north on Thames St toward Broadway. Continue on Broadway for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with Route 138. Take a left onto Route 138 (East Main Rd) and continue for approximately 5 miles. Follow the signs for Jamestown and merge onto the Jamestown Bridge. After crossing the bridge, continue straight on Route 138 until you reach the traffic circle. Take the first exit onto Fort Wetherill Rd. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles, and you will see Fort Wetherill State Park on your right.

  • Public Transportation

    Start at the Newport Gateway Center. Take the RIPTA bus #60 (Newport to Jamestown) which runs regularly. The ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Fort Wetherill State Park stop or the closest stop on Fort Wetherill Rd. From there, it is a short walk (about 10 minutes) to the park entrance. Follow the road signs to reach Fort Wetherill State Park.

    If you are coming from Middletown, head south on East Main Rd toward Route 138. After about 3 miles, merge onto Route 138 and follow the signs for the Jamestown Bridge. After crossing the bridge, take the first exit onto Fort Wetherill Rd. Continue for about 0.5 miles, and you will find Fort Wetherill State Park on your right.
