Public Transit - Bus
From Pawtucket, head to the nearest bus stop that services the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA). You can catch the #60 bus towards Newport. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the most accurate times. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at 'Fort Wetherill State Park.' This should take about 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you disembark, follow the signs to the park entrance located on Fort Wetherill Rd.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Pawtucket. Head south on Main St, then take a right onto School St. Follow School St until it merges into East Ave. Continue on East Ave, which will lead you to the scenic waterfront. Follow the shoreline towards Jamestown. The ride will take approximately 1.5 hours depending on your pace. Once you reach Fort Wetherill Rd, follow the road until you see signs for the park entrance.
Walking
For those who enjoy a long walk, you can start at the center of Pawtucket. Walk south on Main St until you reach the intersection with East Ave. Take a left onto East Ave and continue walking straight for several miles. This will lead you through beautiful neighborhoods and eventually to Fort Wetherill Rd. The walk will take about 3 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated. Once you reach Fort Wetherill Rd, follow the road until you arrive at the park entrance.
