Public Bus
To reach Rose Island Lighthouse from central Pawtucket, take the RIPTA bus number 60 from the Pawtucket Transit Center (located at 1000 Main St, Pawtucket, RI 02860). The bus departs every 30 minutes. Ride the bus for approximately 45 minutes until you reach the Newport Bus Terminal. Once you arrive at the Newport Bus Terminal (located at 23 America’s Cup Ave, Newport, RI 02840), exit the bus and walk towards Washington St. Turn left on Washington St and walk approximately 0.5 miles to reach the waterfront. From there, you can take a ferry to Rose Island, which is about a 10-minute ride.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in Pawtucket. Start your journey from downtown Pawtucket, and head south on Main St. Follow the bike lanes to cross over to the East Bay Bike Path. Continue on the path for about 10 miles, following the signs to Newport. Once you reach downtown Newport, navigate to Washington St. and follow it to the waterfront. From there, board the ferry to Rose Island, which is a short trip across the water.
Walking
If you are near the waterfront area of Pawtucket, you can enjoy a scenic walk to the ferry terminal. Start at the Slater Mill Historic Site (located at 67 Roosevelt Ave, Pawtucket, RI 02860) and walk down Roosevelt Ave toward the river. Cross the bridge and continue along the riverwalk until you reach the East Bay Bike Path. Keep walking south along the path until you reach Newport. Once in Newport, head towards Washington St. and make your way to the ferry terminal where you can catch a ferry to Rose Island.
