Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards the town of Bihor County and take the DN75 road. Continue on DN75 until you reach the village of Vartop, which is the closest settlement to Vartop Glacier Cave. From Vartop, follow the signs for the cave, which will lead you to a forest road. This road may not be well-maintained, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain. The cave is located about 3 km from the village center. Parking is available near the entrance to the cave.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a bus to the town of Bihor County from larger cities like Cluj-Napoca or Oradea. Once you arrive at Bihor County, you will need to take a local taxi or ride-sharing service to reach the village of Vartop, as public transport options may be limited. Expect to pay around 50-70 RON for the taxi ride from Bihor County to Vartop. After reaching Vartop, follow the signs to the cave, which is approximately a 3 km walk from the village. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
Hiking
For those who enjoy hiking, you can also access Vartop Glacier Cave by trekking through the surrounding mountain trails. From Vartop, follow marked hiking paths that lead to the cave. This route can take around 1-2 hours depending on your pace and fitness level. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and sufficient water, as the trails can be steep and challenging.
