Car
If you are driving from Bucharest, take the A3 highway towards Ploiești. Continue on the DN1 road towards Brașov. When you reach the town of Făgăraș, take the DN1 road towards Sibiu. Follow signs for the Făgăraș Mountains. The closest town to Moldoveanu Peak is Victoria, where you can park your car. From Victoria, follow the marked hiking trails to the peak. The total driving time from Bucharest is approximately 3 hours.
Public Transportation
From Bucharest, take a train to Făgăraș. The journey takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on the train schedule. Upon arrival in Făgăraș, you can take a local bus or taxi to Victoria, the nearest town to Moldoveanu Peak. From Victoria, follow the marked hiking trails to Moldoveanu Peak. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may have limited service.
Hiking
Once you reach Victoria, you can start your hike towards Moldoveanu Peak. The trail is well-marked, but it is advisable to have a map or a GPS device. The hike to the peak is approximately 12 kilometers and may take around 4 to 6 hours to complete, depending on your fitness level. Ensure you have appropriate hiking gear, plenty of water, and snacks for the journey.
