If you are driving, start from the town of Hateg. Follow the DJ686 road towards Retezat National Park. After approximately 25 kilometers, you will reach the entrance of the park. Continue on the DN66A road until you reach the village of Nucșoara. From Nucșoara, take the unpaved forest road (marked for hikers) towards Tăul Ciumfu Mare. The drive will take about 1.5 hours in total, depending on road conditions.
