Car
If you are traveling by car, make your way to the DN17 road, which is the main route through the Rodnei Mountains. From the town of Bistrita, take the DN17 towards Vatra Dornei. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for the sign for 'Rodna' and turn onto DJ172E. Continue on this road for about 18 kilometers until you reach the village of Rodna. Once in Rodna, follow the signs towards Preluca de sub Piatra. The final stretch will be on a gravel road, which may require careful driving, especially in wet conditions. Make sure to park your car in designated areas as there may be local regulations.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a train or bus to the town of Bistrita. From Bistrita, take a local bus heading towards Vatra Dornei. Ask the driver to let you off at Rodna. Once in Rodna, you may need to arrange for a taxi to take you the last few kilometers to Preluca de sub Piatra, as public transport options may be limited in this area. Be prepared for a potential waiting time for the taxi, as they may not always be readily available.
