Car
If you are driving, start from the city center of Vâlcea. Head south on DN67 towards Râmnicu Vâlcea. After approximately 15 kilometers, take the exit towards DN7 and merge onto DN7. Continue on DN7 for about 10 kilometers until you reach the town of Călimănești. From Călimănești, follow the signs to the Lotrișor area. You will need to drive on a local road, which may not be as well-marked, so ensure you have a GPS or a good map. The last stretch to the waterfall involves a dirt road, so please drive carefully. There is no parking fee, but be aware that the road may be rough in places.
Public Transportation
To reach Lotrișor Waterfall using public transportation, start at Vâlcea bus station. Take a bus heading to Călimănești (the journey takes about 30 minutes and costs around 5 RON). Once in Călimănești, you will need to take a taxi to the Lotrișor area, as public transport does not go directly to the waterfall. A taxi ride will cost approximately 40-50 RON. Ensure to negotiate the fare before getting in. The taxi will drop you off at the nearest point to the waterfall; from there, you will have to walk about 15-20 minutes on a marked trail to reach the waterfall.
Hiking/Biking
For the more adventurous, you can also hike or bike to Lotrișor Waterfall from Călimănești. This route takes you through beautiful forested areas and scenic views. The distance from Călimănești to the waterfall is about 7 kilometers. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water and snacks, as it may take roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the waterfall on foot. The trail is marked, but you may want to download a map or take a local guide if you're unfamiliar with the area.
