Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the center of Butare (also known as Huye), head south on Avenue du Commerce. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Avenue de l'Indépendance. Turn right and walk along Avenue de l'Indépendance for about 500 meters until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Nyanza Road. Continue walking along Nyanza Road for approximately 1 kilometer. The King's Palace Museum will be on your right. Look for the sign indicating the museum entrance.

Starting from the Butare city center, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops. Head south on Avenue du Commerce, then turn right on Avenue de l'Indépendance. Cycle along Avenue de l'Indépendance until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Nyanza Road. Continue for about 1 kilometer.
